What Is Human Sex Trafficking?

Human sex trafficking is a grave violation of human rights and a devastating form of exploitation. It involves forcing, coercing, or manipulating individuals into engaging in commercial sex acts against their will. Victims often include vulnerable women and girls, but anyone can be targeted. Traffickers use control, fear, and violence to exploit victims for profit, making it one of the most insidious crimes in our society.

Furthermore, data shows that the majority of women who have been sex trafficked have had one or more abortions—and oftentimes, they were forced to do so.

At Options for Her, we’re working to stop human sex trafficking by giving victims, past and present, a safe space to turn to find immediate help, healing, and hope.

The Link Between Human Sex Trafficking and Abortion

Sex trafficking and abortion are often tragically connected. Many victims of trafficking face unplanned pregnancies as a result of the abuse they endure. Traffickers may force victims to undergo abortions to continue exploiting them without interruption. In some cases, traffickers take victims to abortion providers without their consent or knowledge of their rights, further compounding the trauma. Victims may feel trapped, with no access to resources or support to escape their situation.

How We’re Helping

Our goal is to provide a safe and confidential space for victims to access help and resources to break free from sex trafficking. Our trained staff and volunteers are equipped to recognize the signs of trafficking and connect women with the support they need to escape from their traffickers.

In addition to offering free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, educational programs and material parenting resources, we also collaborate with local organizations to provide comprehensive care.

Helping Her Find Hope and Healing

Sex trafficking is a complex and pervasive issue, but hope is not lost. Through awareness, intervention, and support, we’re working to help restore dignity and hope to women who have endured unimaginable hardship. Together, with your support, we can work to protect vulnerable individuals, provide a lifeline to those in need, and continue shining a light on this critical issue.
